Match manipulation: STJD judges five players investigated by MPGO

The Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) issued this Tuesday, 6th, through the 5th Disciplinary Commission, sentences on five players involved in match-fixing schemes. The irregularities are being investigated by the Public Ministry of Goiás (MPGO) in Operation Maximum Penalty.

Sepahan striker, from Iran, Ygor Catatau was banned from football for action while defending Sampaio Corrêa. The decision of the STJD can be appealed. The athlete also received a fine of 70 thousand reais. However, the player will be able to continue his trajectory in the sport in a club abroad.

According to CNN Brasil, the trial lasted four hours, starting at 12 pm and ending only at 6 pm. The STJD also evaluated the situation of four other athletes: Allan Godói, André Queixo, Mateusinho and Paulo Sérgio. The first of them, Allan Godói, was acquitted of allegations of match fixing.

Players’ sentences

  • Allan Godói – defender – Operário player – acquitted;
  • André Queixo – defensive midfielder – Nam Dinh-IRQ player – fine of R$ 50 thousand;
  • Mateusinho – fullback – player from Cuiabá – suspension of 720 days and a fine of R$50,000;
  • Paulo Sérgio – defender – player of Operário – suspension of 720 days and fine of R$ 70 thousand;
  • Ygor Catatau – striker – Sepahan-IRA player – banishment and R$70,000 fine;

It is worth noting that the five players defended Sampaio Corrêa last season, the year in which the complaints refer. The decisions of the STJD referring to Allan Godói, André Queixo, Mateusinho and Paulo Sérgio are also subject to appeal.

STJD judged eight other players involved in match-fixing scheme

Last Thursday, June 1st, the STJD also judged eight other players mentioned in the match-fixing scheme investigated by the authorities. Below, the decision of the Superior Court of Sports Justice on each athlete:

  • Moraes (Aparecidense): suspension of 760 days and BRL 55 thousand;
  • Gabriel Tota (Ypiranga): banishment and R$ 30 thousand;
  • Paulo Miranda (without club): suspension of 1,000 days and BRL 70,000;
  • Eduardo Bauermann (Santos): suspension of 12 games;
  • Igor Cariús (Sport): acquitted;
  • Fernando Neto (São Bernardo): suspension of 380 days and R$ 15 thousand;
  • Matheus Gomes (without a club): banishment and R$ 10 thousand
  • Kevin Lomónaco (RB Bragantino): suspension of 380 days and BRL 25 thousand.
