The Mississippi Gaming Commission (MGC) reported that the state’s 25 non-tribal casinos generated $235.1 million in poker, slot machine and table game revenue in March.
Thus, revenue increased by 13.8% compared to February (US$206.7 million) and 3% compared to March 2023. In other words, the average daily revenue was US$7.6 million.
Mississippi casino revenue is divided into the following three regions: Central, Coastal, and Northern. The Coastal region generated revenues of US$ 148.9 million, the North region US$ 53.7 million and the Central region, US$ 32.4 million.
Mississippi casinos and sports betting
Thus, bettors in Mississippi invested $44.5 million in sports in March, a 4.7% drop compared to March 2023, but 41% ahead of February of this year.
Mississippi coastal casinos took in $30.2 million in bets and $1.9 million in revenue. Central casinos accounted for $8.9 million and $1 million in sports bets. As for Northern casinos, players spent $5.5 million, with revenue reaching $468,058.
Therefore, the Mississippi sports betting market has stood out in the United States. In 2020, the state recorded a turnover of approximately US$364 million. This shows the enthusiasm of local residents for betting on various sports.
However, unlike other states like Tennessee, Mississippi has a strong retail sports betting presence. Because locals are not allowed to use online sports betting outside of the casino environment.
