Last Thursday, April 13th, PokerStars announced that it has renewed the sponsorship contract with the eSports team FURIA, founded by André Akkari. In addition to being the 2011 World Poker Champion, Akkari has been committed to promoting the world of online sports over the last few years and has expressed his delight at the continued partnership.
The team founder commented: “The partnership with PokerStars has been very important for the evolution of FURIA. We know that there is a lot of synergy between our brands. We are preparing activations with great idols, a powerful educational concept and offering Brazilians the opportunity to play poker in innovative environments, with fantastic people.
“As we move into the next year of our partnership, our fans can expect an explosion in terms of new activities,” added Akkari.
The partnership’s first major event will take place this Friday, April 14, at 20:00, with a freeroll poker tournament, in which it is not necessary to pay to play. Participants will have the opportunity to compete with the FURIA team stars and even have the chance to win prizes.
The top 100 will receive signed gifts from the eSports team, as well as vouchers and tickets to PokerStars tournaments.
