Combined casino and online gambling revenue in Michigan increased 18.8% compared to the previous year to $176.1 million in July, while the state also posted a monthly increase.

Gross revenues were comfortably above $148.2 million in July 2022 and also up 4% from $169.3 million in June of this year. The total also stopped three straight months of decline in Michigan.

Online casino gaming gross revenues reached $153.6 million in July, up 21.3% year-on-year and 1.7% above the June total.

Bookmakers gross revenues were 4.2% compared to the previous year to $22.5 million and 23.0% higher than in June.

This occurred despite the 10.8% drop, from US$ 225 million in July 2022 to US$ 200.8 million, with expenditures also 11.9% lower than in June.

Michigan online gambling gross revenue in July grew 17.8%

In terms of adjusted gross revenues, which account for promotional spending, Michigan also reported growth.

Combined adjusted gross gambling and sports betting revenues totaled $154.6 million. That was 17.8% ahead of last year and 5.8% higher than the June total.

Adjusted gaming gross revenues reached $138.2 million, up 18% year-over-year and 1% from June.

Looking at sports betting, adjusted gross revenues totaled $16.4 million, up 77.5% year-on-year and 16.8% higher than in June.

Operators paid $29.8 million in total taxes, including $28.7 million in online casino taxes and $1.1 million in sports betting taxes.

Detroit’s three commercial casinos also paid $7.6 million in taxes to the City of Detroit. In addition, tribal operators made $3.5 million in payments to government agencies.

Detroit casino revenue remains stable

Last week, it was also revealed that Detroit’s casinos posted revenues of $107.2 million in July, level with last year and slightly higher month-on-month.

The July total was on par with the $107.2 million released in the same month last year. The value was 6.5% higher than the US$ 101.5 million of June this year.

Of that amount, about $106.7 million came from slot machines and table games, up 0.7% year-on-year.

Sports betting generated $485,763 in Qualified Adjusted Gross Revenues (QAGR), down 62.0%, while the figure reached $8.0 million.
