Michael Cartlidge, 39, and Charlotte Cox, 37, decided to live together in Spalding, England, shortly after meeting. The relationship seemed promising, until a scratch card changed everything.

Scratch card was the reason for the separation

Charlotte became a millionaire after winning 1 million pounds, approximately R$6.2 million, in a scratch card. But shortly after the surprising victory, she ended her three-month relationship with Michael, which left the Englishman furious.

The boyfriend claims to have suggested that Charlotte buy the scratch card, even trying to transfer the money to her. However, due to signal problems, the transaction was not completed, and Charlotte purchased the ticket with her own resources.

“I started the transfer, got up to show her. You can see me doing it on the store’s security camera. The signal was bad, so it didn’t come through the store right away,” Michael told the “Daily Star”.

So, now, Michael has decided to appeal to the court, completely disagreeing with the way the relationship ended. Therefore, history serves as a warning to show the fragility of relationships today.

It sounds silly, but an unexpected event can completely change the course of someone’s life.

This is not the first time this type of case has happened in England. In 2016, a case became famous and involved John Dingwall, a British man who won £14 million in the Euromillions lottery, approximately R$88 million.

Shortly after receiving the prize, his wife filed for divorce claiming he was more interested in the money than her.
