CAIXA Lotteries raised R$6.1 billion in the first quarter of 2024 (1Q24). Thus, the increase recorded was 22% compared to last year. Of this amount, the net prize pool for bettors totaled R$2 billion.
Thus, a considerable part of the proceeds from the CAIXA Lotteries is destined for social development in Brazil.
In the first quarter of 2024, R$2.4 billion, equivalent to 38.4% of the total collected, was directed to Federal Government social programs.
This amount, 19.7% higher than in the 1st quarter of 2023, financed areas such as social security, sport and culture. In addition, other segments such as public security, education, health and income tax payments were covered.
As the main operating agent of the Federal Government’s social programs, Caixa plays a crucial role in eradicating poverty and improving income distribution in Brazil.
In the first quarter of 2024, the state bank paid social benefits totaling R$93.1 billion, distributed in 101.3 million installments, covering all Brazilian municipalities.
Highlights of payments to social programs
- Bolsa Família: R$40.5 billion distributed in 61.8 million installments to 21.1 million families.
- INSS: R$33.6 billion distributed in 19.8 million installments to 6.2 million beneficiaries.
- Unemployment Insurance: R$13.8 billion distributed in 8.4 million installments to 3.8 million beneficiaries.
CAIXA started paying the Salary Allowance in February this year, benefiting 3.4 million people with a total of R$3.7 billion in the 1st quarter of 2024.
In March, payments for the Pé-de-Meia program also began, as well as Auxílio Gás and other social and regional programs, totaling R$1.5 billion.
