Bruno Henrique testifies before the STJD after rescheduling the hearing

Bruno Henrique testified at the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) on Thursday afternoon (29), after requesting that the hearing be rescheduled. The Flamengo striker is being investigated for allegedly forcing a yellow card in 2023, which would have favored bettors. The STJD has until next week to conclude the investigation.

Last week, Bruno Henrique and other witnesses were summoned. Initially, the hearing was scheduled to take place last Monday. However, the player requested that it be rescheduled, since the time coincided with Flamengo’s training session at Ninho do Urubu.

During his time off, Bruno Henrique participated in the hearing virtually. From now on, he awaits the next developments in the case. The STJD is investigating the evidence forwarded by the Federal Police and preparing a report on the case.

He will then decide whether to file a complaint or close the investigation. As there was no request for preventive suspension, the striker remains free to play for Flamengo.

The Federal Police indicted Bruno Henrique based on article 200 of the General Sports Law, which deals with fraud in sports competitions. The sentence is two to six years in prison. In addition, he is also charged with fraud, which is punishable by one to five years in prison.

Bruno Henrique’s defense requests the investigation be archived

The player’s defense requested that the police investigation be closed. In addition, they filed a Habeas Corpus in the Federal District Court of Justice. The request aims to annul the legal proceedings and transfer the case from the State Court to the Federal Court in the Federal District. According to the lawyers, the jurisdiction to judge the investigation should lie with the Federal Court.

The defense’s request includes three main points: sending the case to the Federal Court of the Federal District; annulling all previous decisions of the State Court; and removing the evidence obtained so far from the case.

Bruno Henrique appears alongside Wander Nunes Pinto Júnior (brother), Ludymilla Araújo Lima (Wander’s wife) and Poliana Ester Nunes Cardoso (cousin) on the list of indicted individuals. The three are said to have placed bets.

According to the investigation, there is also a second group of bettors: Claudinei Vitor Mosquete Bassan, Rafaela Cristina Elias Bassan, Henrique Mosquete do Nascimento, Andryl Sales Nascimento dos Reis, Max Evangelista Amorim and Douglas Ribeiro Pina Barcelos, all friends of Wander.

The Common Court may receive a complaint against the attacker, while the Federal Police indicted Bruno Henrique in April, and the Public Ministry of the Federal District is analyzing the investigation.

It is now up to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to decide whether to file a complaint or close the case. The defense has already formalized the request for closing, but is still awaiting a response.
