The online gaming option is no longer available on the Sergipe Lottery platform, Lotese. According to the State Bank (Banese), which administers the lottery, the area is being remodeled and will return soon. The information was released on Thursday (29).
The main reason for the withdrawal of online games from Lotese is due to questions raised by state deputies, one of whom was deputy Marcos Oliveira (PL).
According to information from Banese, some members of parliament used the Legislative Assembly’s platform to question the games available on the platform. Deputies mentioned games such as Fortune Tiger, known in Brazil as ‘Jogo do Tigrinho’.
Thus, in light of the questions, the state governor, Fábio Mitidieri, ordered the bank’s president to remove the Tigrinho game from Lotese, which occurred on Wednesday.
The president of the State Bank of Sergipe (Banese), Marco Antônio Queiroz, said that, after generating doubts, the game will not return. However, according to Queiroz, the modality is legal and is in full compliance with the lottery’s operating authorization.
In a statement, the Public Services Regulatory Agency of the State of Sergipe (Agrese) reported that “all types of games and products that were submitted for authorization by Lotese were analyzed in strict compliance with the requirements of federal and state law”.
Understand the emergence of Lotese
The process of creating the Sergipe Lottery began in 2021 with the creation of State Law 8,901. This law authorized the Executive Branch to provide the service, therefore, one year after the Supreme Federal Court allowed Brazilian states to operate in the gaming market. However, in 2022 the law was regulated, through State Decrees 159 and 165.
In 2024, the Legislative Assembly unanimously approved State Law 9,440, thus authorizing Banese to plan, organize, explore and operate, on behalf of the Executive branch, lottery services in Sergipe.
In November of the same year, the Central Bank of Brazil authorized Banese to create a subsidiary to operate the lottery business in Sergipe. Thus, the competitive process for the strategic partnership began, which will be finalized in 2025.
