Caixa Econômica Federal, in a solidarity initiative, proposed to the government the allocation of a +Milionária lottery prize to help face the climate tragedy in Rio Grande do Sul.
The president of the public bank, Carlos Vieira, announced last Thursday (16), that this action could direct R$100 million to the state affected by severe rains in recent weeks.
However, government authorization is awaited to implement this measure. “On Caixa’s side, everything is resolved,” said Vieira.

Caixa foresees other measures to help Rio Grande do Sul
Furthermore, Caixa has already taken other measures, such as temporarily suspending payment of loans and financing. This measure had an impact of R$66.8 billion on its portfolio.
In any case, the president emphasized that, given the necessary reconstruction after the tragedy, the bank sees significant investment and financing opportunities.
The reconstruction of entire neighborhoods will require substantial resources and Caixa will be ready to contribute with financial solutions at this critical time.
