Bookmakers, also known as bets, in Rio de Janeiro gained a new opportunity to regularize their activities. LOTERJ extended the deadline for another 30 days, starting March 6, for the accreditation process.
The decision was made official through the Official Gazette of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Therefore, all the necessary information is available on the municipality’s website.
The president of LOTERJ, Hazenclever Lopes Cançado emphasizes: “There is a window of opportunity now.”
“We are offering this extension to demonstrate LOTERJ’s commitment to leading the way in attracting more houses interested in operating legally in the gaming and lottery market”, he adds.
How companies can become accredited
Interested companies will be able to obtain accreditation to operate exclusively in the virtual environment, with online access, covering various types of lotteries and sports betting.
As provided for in current legislation, including Law No. 14,790/2023 and Law No. 13,873/2019, which recognize sports modalities.
LOTERJ, a pioneer in the accreditation of sports betting operators in the country, established a fixed grant worth R$5 million, lasting up to five years of operation.
In addition to a variable grant of 5% on the monthly Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR).
Interested operators must undertake not to operate lottery modalities in the State of Rio de Janeiro without due authorization from LOTERJ or the Federal Union.
Since the launch of the accreditation notice on April 26, 2023, several bookmakers are already in operation. Such as Apostou, Bestbet, Marjosports and Pixbet.

The Rio de Janeiro State Lottery is responsible for managing the game throughout the state. After the ban on casinos, state lotteries became the official alternative, established by Decree-Law No. 6,259, by President Getúlio Vargas.
