Bookmakers, also known as bets, in Rio de Janeiro gained a new opportunity to regularize their activities. LOTERJ extended the deadline for another 30 days, starting March 6, for the accreditation process.

The decision was made official through the Official Gazette of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Therefore, all the necessary information is available on the municipality’s website.

The president of LOTERJ, Hazenclever Lopes Cançado emphasizes: “There is a window of opportunity now.”

“We are offering this extension to demonstrate LOTERJ’s commitment to leading the way in attracting more houses interested in operating legally in the gaming and lottery market”, he adds.

How companies can become accredited

Interested companies will be able to obtain accreditation to operate exclusively in the virtual environment, with online access, covering various types of lotteries and sports betting.

As provided for in current legislation, including Law No. 14,790/2023 and Law No. 13,873/2019, which recognize sports modalities.

LOTERJ, a pioneer in the accreditation of sports betting operators in the country, established a fixed grant worth R$5 million, lasting up to five years of operation.

In addition to a variable grant of 5% on the monthly Gross Gaming Revenue (GGR).

In 2007, the game “Rio de Prêmios” was launched, broadcast live on Record TV Rio, and later, in 2018, “Super Pontos” was added to the game, introducing a new prize dynamic.

LOTERJ has a mission focused on social development, allocating 70% of its net profit to social projects in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Therefore, it adopts responsible gaming practices, such as prohibition for children under 18 and recommendations for conscious gaming.

Since its founding in 1944, LOTERJ has positively impacted the lives of thousands of people. Therefore, it remains committed to excellence in lottery products and social actions in the state.
