Former player Romário is in the spotlight in the Brazilian news for two activities: his role as rapporteur at the CPI on Game Manipulation in the Senate and as president of America do Rio de Janeiro. On Thursday (16), he announced Superbet as the club’s new sponsor.
The press conference was held at Granja Comary, the Brazilian team’s training center, where the Rio team is currently training. Furthermore, Romário was asked if he considered being on the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry and signing up with a company in the betting sector a conflict of interest.
However, he considered: “75% of Brazilian football is sponsored by a betting company, the Brazilian Championship is sponsored by a betting company, the Copa do Brasil is sponsored by a betting company.”
“So, for this journalist who made this statement, let him take it (…). He is completely wrong in thinking that my relationship with having Superbet in America and, today, being here at Granja Comary will interfere at some point in the report I make on the betting CPI”, he added.

Therefore, the Superbet brand will be in the most valued space on the Rio team’s uniform. The partnership was also announced on social media with the motto: “America is original. America is SUPER!”
Therefore, the betting company released a video highlighting the history of the football team. “The original is born different. It’s your DNA. We recognize the originals from afar by their roots, their history, their blood!”
Superbet, main partner of Fluminense and São Paulo, reached an agreement valid for one year with Mecão. Furthermore, the team will be able to receive a bonus if they qualify for the Campeonato Carioca.
Therefore, the debut is full of expectations due to the possibility of Romário‘s return to the pitch. The first game in Series A2 will be against Petrópolis, at Giulite Coutinho.
