CPI das apostas esportivas Paquetá será obrigado a depor na comissão.

Striker Lucas Paquetá will be compelled to testify before the sports betting CPI, after the deputies approved his summons on the night of this Monday, 04/09.

Previously, the player had been invited to clarify questions, but had not responded to parliamentarians.

With the summons, his presence becomes mandatory, although the possibility of testifying by videoconference is not ruled out, given that he currently plays for West Ham, in England.

On the other hand, striker Luiz Henrique, who is now part of Betis, responded to the deputies and agreed to provide clarifications as a guest, not as an investigator.

The date for his testimony before the CPI has yet to be scheduled.

Players did not respond to an invitation to the sports betting CPI

The invitations made to Paquetá and Luiz Henrique were proposed by Deputy Felipe Carreras (PSB/PE) two weeks ago, after information emerged alleging their alleged involvement in a betting scheme.

According to Sportradar‘s report, there were indications of bets involving players in matches of their teams on March 12th.

According to the document, accounts linked to people close to Paquetá made bets on the prediction that he and Luiz Henrique would receive yellow cards, which in fact occurred.

These bets were made in Duque de Caxias, through the BetWay website, which is a sponsor of the English team.

Due to these suspicions, the English FA opened an investigation against Paquetá, resulting in his withdrawal from the Brazilian National team.

Understand the case involving Paquetá

West Ham player Lucas Paquetá is being investigated by the English Football Association (FA – Football Association) on suspicion of involvement in sports betting.

A supposedly forced yellow card in a game last season barred his call-up for the first games of the Brazilian national team in the World Cup Qualifiers and still blocked his possible transfer to Manchester City.
