The Public Ministry of Goiás (PM-GO) denounced seven more players this Wednesday, the 19th, for suspected match-fixing in football.
The list includes striker Alef Manga, from Coritiba, midfielder Dadá Belmonte, from América, Igor Carius, from Sport. Four other players without a club: Jesus Trindade, ex-Coritiba, Pedrinho, ex-Athletico, Sidcley, ex-Cuiabá, and Thonny Anderson, ex-Coritiba.
The new complaint involves eight other people, some of whom were already under investigation, such as Bruno Lopez, appointed as head of the gamblers’ organization, Ícaro Fernando Calixto dos Santos, Luis Felipe Rodrigues de Castro, Romário Hugo dos Santos, Victor Yamasaki, Thiago Chambo Andrade and Cleber Vinicius Rocha Antunes, businessman known as Clebinho Fera.
The Goiás PM indicates that more than 13 games with suspected match-fixing the in Série A of the 2022 Brazilian Championship.
List of games suspected of match fixing
As occurred in the two previous stages of Operation Maximum Penalty, some athletes chose to sew agreements with the PM of Goiás.
One of them was the Ecuadorian Bryan Garcia, who received a yellow card in the match between Athletico and Fluminense, on September 3, 2022 – 1 to 0 for Curitiba.
Another was Diego Porfírio, today at Guarani, but when he was playing for América-MG against Coritiba – 2-0 for the miners. These two athletes paid a fine.
Who also paid a fine and made an agreement was Vitor Mendes, who was at Fluminense and was removed. But for participating in the match between Juventude against Avai and against Fortaleza.
Nino Paraíba, for Ceará, also made an agreement, for participation in a game against Flamengo. He received a yellow card in the match on 4 September. Then, another yellow card on September 18 against São Paulo.
Manga, from Coritiba, for the same match, was denounced for receiving an amount of R$ 50,000 to receive a yellow card in the same match.
Among those accused, Pedrinho and Sidcley were involved in the same game, between Athletico and Cuiabá, on September 18. The two took a yellow card and, according to the MP-GO, for a promise of payment from the organization.
In October, there were two more clashes. With the involvement of Thonny Anderson and Jesus Trindade, from Coritiba, against Athletico.
Both took yellow. Between Ceará and Cuiabá, again Nino Paraíba to receive a warning from the referee.
Final rounds
In the last rounds, the allegations of involvement in a match-fixing scheme are against Dadá Belmonte, then a Goiás player, in a game against Juventude, on November 5, and against Fluminense, four days later.
In both cases, they were carded, but against Tricolor in Rio de Janeiro, to receive the red card.
The last clash cited by the Public Ministry involved Atlético and Cuiabá. At the time, Igor Cariús (then in Cuiabá and today in Sport) would have pocketed around R$ 30 before the game.
