Michigan Gaming and Sportsbook Revenue Drops to $185 Million in May

Michigan commercial and tribal operators reported a total of $185.8 million in gross income from internet casino gaming and sports betting in May. That’s down 5.1% from April’s $195.7 million.

The Michigan Gaming Control Board reported that online gaming gross receipts for May were $150.6 million and sports betting gross receipts were $35.2 million. In April 2023, internet gaming gross revenues reached a record US$159.4 million and sports betting gross revenues US$36.3 million.

Total combined adjusted gross income from online gaming and sports betting was $157.5 million, including $135.5 million from internet gaming and $22 million from online betting as of May 2023. These figures are 5 .5 and 10.2% decline compared to April 2023.

The internet sports betting area registered USD 288.3 million, a decrease of 10.7% from the USD 322.8 million registered in April 2023. Operators reported sending USD 29.4 million in taxes and payments to the state of Michigan. Tribal operators reported receiving US$3.4 million in payments to government agencies.

Land based casinos in Michigan

Detroit’s three casinos reported $105.6 million in monthly revenue in May, according to the Michigan Gaming Control Board. Table games and slot machines generated $104.7 million and retail betting on sporting events reached $893,732 – a massive figure.

May Table Games and Slots revenue decreased by 1.4% compared to May 2022. Revenue was down 4.5% compared to April 2023, but increased by 0.4% compared to May last year.
