Due to the current conflict situation in Ukraine, Manchester City may discontinue its sponsorship agreement with Marathonbet, the club’s official betting partner.

The betting brand was founded in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan in 1997 and has been with Citizens since 2018.

In the agreement with the club, the brand installed strategic points in the United Kingdom so that all fans could place their bets. But with the war in Ukraine, Marathonbet decided to suspend investments coming from British punters.

According to ‘The Guardian’, a source inside Manchester City claimed that the deal with the betting company was about to be terminated.

However, Marathonbet continues with its promotional campaigns around the world using the current players of the English club.

The suspension of MarathonBet’s activities in the UK

Marathonbet has allowed new customers to sign up on its UK site from the 4th of April. Existing customers can no longer deposit or place bets until April 14th.

After the 14th withdrawal, customers can access accounts to verify outstanding customers, although the company will hand over their additional accounts to process their orders.

“As the Marathonbet brand is operated globally, recent and ongoing events in Europe have had a significant impact on us,” the company said. “We regret the decision to suspend the services offered on the marato.co.uk website.”

The brand has not given any indication of when the site will be able to resume activity. Both the Marathonbet.com.br website and the mbet.com.br website will be closed.

However, the sites licensed by the authorities in Italy, Spain and Denmark will continue to operate as normal, along with the marathonbet.com site licensed by the government of Curaçao.

The brand has been operating in the CIS markets of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan since 1997. The betting group launched its UK presence in 2015, marking its new entry into Western European territories that included Spain and Italy.
