The Maranhão State Lottery (Lotema) is about to start a new period of games and opportunities. The official launch takes place this Monday (22), at Palácio dos Leões in São Luís.
Lotema is a public service managed by the State Government, through Maranhão Parcerias (Mapa). The objective is to raise resources to support public policies that benefit the people of Maranhão, generating thousands of direct and indirect jobs.
The four types of lottery games
Initially, Lotema will offer four types of games to the public, through concessionaires. They are: Number Prediction, Specific Prediction, Instant Lottery and Fixed Probability Bets.
But the expectation is that this activity will boost Maranhão’s economy. The funds raised will be used to finance:
- State social security
- Public policies for children and youth
- Preventing and combating disasters and public calamities
- Education
- Sports entities
- Promotion of amateur sport projects
- Public-private partnership development programs in Maranhão, in accordance with Decree No. 38,763 of December 6, 2023
Therefore, in the first year of operation, it is estimated that the financial transfer for investments in public policies will exceed R$ million reais.
Furthermore, the lottery is expected to boost the gaming chain, generating more than 50 thousand direct and indirect jobs and millions in revenue for the State.
Thus, the recreation of Lotema was approved by the State Audit Court (TCE-MA) and the Superior Court of Justice.
The bodies recognized the legality of the procedure adopted for granting the public lottery service by the Government of the State of Maranhão.
In this way, Lotema promises to be a milestone in the history of lotteries and sports betting in Brazil.
