Betfred becomes sponsor of the English rugby teams aiming at the World Cup

Sports betting company Betfred has announced an official contract with the English women’s, men’s and wheelchair teams for next season. Recalling that England will host the next edition of the Rugby World Cup (RLWC).

In 2017, the English bookmaker secured the sponsorship of the Super League title, the main category of the sport. The agreement was extended in May last year for another two years, corresponding to the largest sponsorship contract in the history of the championship.

The company also made official partnerships with two other relevant tournaments and the women’s league: Championship, League 1 and the Women’s Super League.

“Betfred has been an excellent sponsor for the Rugby League for the past four years. And, it’s fantastic that they will now extend that support to other teams in England in 2021, ”said Mark Foster, commercial director of RFL.

Under the new contract, the Betfred brand will be stamped on the backs of athletes’ uniforms throughout the tournament in order to promote the company’s name.

England debuts at the 2021 Rugby World Cup

The Men’s World Cup is scheduled to start on October 23 next year, when the men’s team will debut in front of Samoa at St James Park. The women’s team will play for the first time at the Emerald Headingley against the Brazilians on November 9.

England’s campaign at the Wheelchair Rugby World Cup is scheduled to start two days later, on November 11, at the Copper Box Arena in London’s Olympic Park. The opponent will be Australia.
