Lawyer Regis Anderson Dudena has been formally appointed as national secretary for Prizes and Betting (SPA) at the Ministry of Finance. The information was published in an edition of the Official Gazette of the Union.

The decree formalizing the name was signed by the Minister of the Civil House, Rui Costa.

According to O Globo, the inauguration of the position is scheduled for today.

The Secretariat of Prizes and Bets was created to regulate the sports betting and online gaming market in Brazil, as well as fulfill the ministry’s legal responsibilities regarding lotteries and commercial promotions.

The authority was created at the end of January and has been without command since then. Currently, the department has three secretariats and 38 professional positions.

The new Secretary of Prizes and Bets Dudena has a doctorate in law from UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais), in the area of ​​National Financial System Studies and repression of administrative offenses and criminal crime.

He also served as legal manager for ANTF (National Association of Rail Transporters).

However, this is not the first time that the lawyer has worked in the Federal Government. In 2016, he was appointed to the role of Deputy Chief of Staff for Legal Affairs of the Civil House of the Presidency of the Republic, under the administration of then President Dilma Rousseff.
