América Mineiro announced the termination of the contract of right-back Nino Paraíba, investigated for possible involvement in a betting scheme when he was still defending Ceará, last season. The 37-year-old athlete chose to resign, a decision that was accepted by the football club.

He no longer carried out activities along with the rest of the squad since last Wednesday, May 10, when information was released that the athlete had been mentioned in the Operation Maximum Penalty 2 process, which investigates a betting scheme on games. from Series A and B of the 2022 Brazilian Championship, in addition to matches from this year’s state competitions.

Recently, the website Superesportes reported that Nino Paraíba would have received money from the gang through his mother’s bank account, Maria José Souza Clementino. According to the news, BRL 70 thousand were sent between September and October 2022.

The deposits were made by Camila Silva da Motta, wife of the organization’s leader, Bruno Lopes. Excerpts from conversations obtained by Superesportes point to conversations for bid manipulation in three clashes: Ceará x Santos (09/10), Ceará x São Paulo (09/18) and Ceará x Cuiabá (10/16).
