A group specializing in sports betting recorded a loss of 200 thousand reais with Brazil’s defeat in the quarterfinals of the World Cup. Members of Dupla Aposta, a channel that works with consultants in the betting sector, made an investment in Brazil’s title in Qatar in September.

The “red” was published shortly after the elimination of the Brazilian team in the quarterfinals. The Canarinho team opened the scoring against Croatia with a great goal by Neymar in the first stage of extra time, but took the tie in the final minutes of extra time and were overcome on penalties.

With the departure of the Brazilians in the quarterfinals, the bet was considered lost. One of the leaders of the group, Gabriel Laterce, Gabrielzão, posted a text on social media to talk about the end of the dream. That’s because the title of the Brazilian team could earn up to 1 million reais to the group.

“I’m sure that Instagram today is going to pump like never before in history. This here has never been about money. This has always been about my story. It’s been 9 years working with football and thank God a lot of people have always followed my path.

I arrived in Qatar, probably at the height of everything I’ve experienced. 3rd World Cup in a row and with a lot of baggage. I really wanted the hexa. MUCH. Today I am 29 years old and would have completely crowned my decade and my 20s. Unfortunately it didn’t. It was a star that I wanted to place in those amazing and fantastic years that I lived.

Frustration is giant and the feeling is grief. What about the R$200,000? Thanks to @andrewilliam_ and @mateuscaumo for getting on board with the idea. Money was never a priority or a problem around here. This bet put us on another level.

Thank you all for following the Cup here. It’s just the beginning and it’s time to go home. And if I could have a conversation with myself in my 20s, I’d be like, ‘You did it Gabriel, you did it A LOT. I’m so proud'”
