The government leader in the Chamber, José Guimarães (PT-CE), said that deputies must vote in plenary by Tuesday on the PL for sports betting, the so-called “bets“.
Deputies can even alter the text approved by the Senate to overturn changes in the text.
The Federal Government’s initial projection stipulated a revenue of R$1.6 billion in 2024 alone with the proposal, including taxes and fees.

However, the change approved by senators barring online casino games should cause a reduction of around 70% of this estimate, according to the rapporteur, senator Angelo Coronel (PSD-BA).
Guimarães considered that the change in the Senate could have an impact on the Executive’s revenue.
“Next week we still have the project that we need to vote on, Monday or Tuesday, the bets project. Our idea is to maintain the Chamber’s text and include casinos, because otherwise it will greatly reduce revenue,” he said in an interview.
“But, let’s see, for the government the text doesn’t matter because the Senate’s text reduced the amount of revenue, but increased the rates”, he added.
In addition to the vote on the bets, the advancement of the economic agenda of the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad, also depends on the vote by the Senate plenary on the provisional measure that regulates subsidies. Agenda approved by the Chamber last week.
In addition to these projects, there is an expectation that a session of Congress will be held to vote on the Budget Guidelines Law (LDO) and annual budget (LOA) projects.

Furthermore, the president of the Chamber, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), said that deputies should come up with the proposal to regulate sports betting before the legislative recess.
This is because the text was approved by the Senate with changes and, therefore, returned to the Chamber for analysis.
“I wanted to pass on an agenda to all of you. We should look into it, and Celso (Sabino, Minister of Tourism) asked, during this next week, about the vote on the regularization of online games, which is the starting point so that resources can also go to Tourism”, said Lira, during a speech at the opening of the 2023 National Tourism Exhibition, in Brasília.
