As per sports betting regulation, companies will be taxed at 18%. Therefore, the bookmakers will be able to keep the 82% of the resources that remain.

Taxes collected from bookmakers will be divided as follows:

  • 10% for social security,
  • 0.82% for basic education,
  • 2.55% for the National Public Security Fund,
  • 1.63% for clubs and athletes,
  • 3% for the Ministry of Sports.

While the prize is awarded, the bettor will be taxed at 30% of the Income Tax on bets won above the exemption range. However, all prizes up to R$ 2,112.00 will be exempt.

The regulation will also help encourage responsible gambling and combat attempts of match-fixing at sporting events.

The norms came into effect this Tuesday, the 25th. However, the MP must pass through the National Congress within four months.
