Betsson exclusive Maximiliano Bellio talks about his latest sponsorship

The betting and gaming operator Betsson officially announced the sponsorship agreement that unites it with Club Atlético Boca Juniors until the end of 2024. Although the official statement does not mention numbers, it is estimated that the union between Boca Jrs. and Betsson has been closed for a sum of 7.5 million dollars. Due to the newest agreement, the iGaming Brazil portal contacted the Country Manager of that country, Maximiliano Bellio, directly to talk about this, among other things related to Betsson.

Maximiliano Bellio joined Betsson almost a year ago, but it’s like he’s part of the house. Betsson is one of the best known sports betting sites in the world. Swedish company with more than 60 years in the market (founded in 1963) and led by Pontus Lindwall, started to enter the world of football a few years ago.

With Boca, it will be the second time that Betsson operates in Argentina since signing a few months ago with Racing to place its logo on the top of the jersey number. In the case of Boca Jrs, the logo will be in the main part with blue and yellow

Betsson’s arrival in the region began with its sponsorship of the Copa América 2021 (which Argentina won against Brazil) and continued with other tournaments, which promote it at a continental level.

The t-shirt debuted at Juan Román Riquelme’s farewell match, on June 25, with Messi in attendance.

iGaming Brazil – When did you take over as Country Manager in Argentina?

Maximiliano Bellio – I took office in August 2022.

iGaming Brazil – What are your challenges in this position for the country and the region within Betsson?

Maximiliano Bellio – The challenges are diverse. Firstly, to position the Betsson brand in the country, as it is a very young market with a lot of competition that started to take its first steps last year, along with the regulation of online gambling. Betsson has the mission to transfer the leadership it has in Europe and in some countries of our continent to Argentina, demonstrating why the 60 years we are celebrating in 2023 make us leaders worldwide, and that is no exception in Argentina.

The region for the industry has gained great importance in recent years, and we have the challenge of leading it from end to end.

iGaming Brazil – Do you think Brazil will be (is) the biggest market in Latin America after regulation?

Maximiliano Bellio – Brazil has always behaved like a continent within another, its size and economic potential have always placed it at the center of the scene. I think he has a big challenge ahead of him with a possible regulation, which will put a lot of things in order.

iGaming Brazil – Why did you choose the Boca Jrs club, among so many other clubs in the country?

Maximiliano Bellio – In the brand stage we have, we always trust that a possible agreement with a club like Boca Jrs. would take the business to another level. The Boca Jrs. knows no borders, it’s a club with worldwide repercussions, and it’s natural that two giants like Boca Jrs. and Betsson come together to strengthen each other.

It is important to point out that it is not our only partner, as we are also a sponsor of Racing Club, one of the biggest clubs in the country with a very rich history in the region.

iGaming Brazil – How many other clubs does Betsson plan to sponsor in Argentina?

Maximiliano Bellio – We are currently sponsoring two clubs, Boca and Racing. We don’t close the doors to anything, but we are very satisfied with everything we are achieving in such a short time.

It should be noted that Betsson is one of the international operators that has gaming licenses both in the City and in the Province of Buenos Aires, two of the most important jurisdictions in Argentina.
