In recent months, Brazilian football has been the target of an operation promoted by the Public Ministry of Goiás on cases of match-fixing in Series A and B of the Brazilian Championship last year, as well as in State Championship games this year.
As a result, the Santa Catarina Football Federation (FCF) issued an official note on Operation Maximum Penalty, classified as ‘brilliant’. According to the statement, the entity is ‘speeding up actions’ that combat ‘irregularities in games of all divisions of football in Santa Catarina’.
“With the certainty that the manipulation of results or simple actions that interfered in the fairness of a game undermine the commercial and moral value of football, the FCF is streamlining actions aimed at supporting its affiliated clubs and combating, however small that is, the signs of any irregularity in games of all divisions of football in Santa Catarina”, says the note.
In addition, the FCF stressed that it is at the disposal of the authorities and adopting “efficient monitoring and fact-finding systems that indicate signs of irregularities”.

“Aware of its responsibility to lead actions that aim to safeguard the suitability of football, especially that of our State, the Santa Catarina Football Federation expresses its solidarity with its affiliates, involuntarily mentioned in the last episodes released by the operation “Penalidade Máxima”, led by brilliantly, by the Public Ministry of Goiás.
