IBJR partners with IBIA to develop actions for the integrity of sport in Brazil

The International Betting Integrity Association (IBIA) and the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR) have signed an agreement in an attempt to protect the integrity of sports betting in Brazil.

The main objective of the agreement is to create initiatives that strengthen the monitoring of match-fixing and reliability in sporting events and online betting in Brazil.

The entities’ cooperation is a response to the introduction of regulation in the sector and the manipulation of games and bets involving football matches in Brazil.

The partnership also seeks to deepen the ties between the two organizations by working together on initiatives to create a viable betting market with high consumption rates and protect the integrity of the Brazilian market.

In addition, the IBJR and IBIA will work closely with sports authorities and organizations to ensure that Brazil benefits from a vibrant and competitive sports betting market, while reducing the likelihood of match fixing.

André Gelfi, CEO of the IBJR, said: “Sector regulation is essential to increase authorities’ monitoring and collaboration actions to curb match-fixing schemes, protecting sports betting companies and Brazilian bettors.”

“To that end, we have already introduced IBIA representatives to key authorities so that closer cooperation can be established to tackle the problem effectively,” he added.

Khalid Ali, CEO of IBIA, said: “IBIA is delighted to close this important agreement with the IBJR. It is clear in our conversations that we share the same values and goals for the Brazilian sports betting market. Now, we will look to explore projects that advance these important goals.”

Recently, the IBIA released its Q1 integrity report and highlighted its development in Brazil, while the IBJR established an advertising self-regulation code for sports betting.
