Coljuegos pede novos poderes abrangentes sobre publicidade de jogos de azar

Colombian regulator Coljuegos sponsors bill to have authority to oversee gaming advertising standards.

Colombian regulator Coljuegos is backing a bill that would give it authority to oversee gaming advertising standards.

The regulator would create rules for betting advertising, sponsorship and all forms of marketing and would be responsible for monitoring advertisements and taking enforcement action.

The body said its rules would include a requirement for licensees to be clearly identifiable in all marketing content for their offerings.

The gaming operator’s company name and commercial image must be clearly presented.

It also plans to introduce an annual cap on each operator’s spending on gambling marketing.

Operators would have to present a marketing investment plan for authorization and Coljuegos would monitor deviations from the plan.

The spending limit for new licensees would be automatically set by the regulator based on market advertising.

Operators that exceeded their limits would be fined up to 100% of their campaign expenses.

The regulator also recommended new rules for sports sponsorships, restricting them to professional teams recognized by a government-approved sports authority.

All sponsorship deals would have to be submitted to the regulator for approval, and the regulator would have the power to terminate agreements with unlicensed operators.

According to Coljuegos, the new rules must be respected

The body said all online advertising will have to include age limit warnings and messages about responsible gambling.

Users should also be able to block ads for online gambling and betting.

The project comes after Marco Emilio Hincapié Ramírez took charge of Coljuegos in June.
