Pennsylvania reported gross gaming and betting income (GGR) results for December 2022, in which the state generated $491.6 million. With December numbers now locked in, Pennsylvania’s annual revenue hit $5.22 billion – a half-billion dollar increase from 2021.

Unsurprisingly, it was Flutter that dominated market share in December at 49%. Its closest rival in the state was DraftKings, which took 23% of the market.

Of all gaming segments, sports betting revenue was the most impressive, jumping 88% year-over-year to $71.2 million. Revenue figures for the overall iGaming industry saw notable gains, growing 32% to $134.6 million.

The state generated impressive numbers in the last month of 2022

Penn National’s Hollywood casino was the biggest breadwinner of all land-based destinations in the state, pulling in $75.8 million in revenue, followed by Boyd Gaming’s Valley Forge, which posted $72.1 million. Contributions from both saw revenue from all face-to-face sources increase 16% on the month

While not as impressive, ‘legacy games’ revenue remained consistent at $279.7 million. Wild Creek Bethlehem generated the most of that with $42.1 million. Valley Forge, operated by FanDuel, generated $34.2 million – a 144% year-over-year increase. DraftKings’ The Meadows represented its closest competitor with $16 million in December, up 96%.

It was the big Hollywood casino that got the most out of the iGaming industry – $60 million of its $75.8 million in revenue came from that segment alone. Rivers Philadelphia and Valley Forge also saw positive revenue results, generating $28.5 million and $26.9 million, respectively.
