The Rio de Janeiro Lottery (Loterj) has added a new line to its contributions to society chapter.

Days after confirming its contribution to Casa Abrigo Lar da Mulher, which helps victims of gender violence, the Rio de Janeiro lottery announced a new social responsibility initiative.

Loterj, chaired by Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, officially awarded R$840,000 to RioSolidario to develop a child education project in the community of Vila do João, in Complexo da Maré, in the north zone of Rio de Janeiro.

The project was selected through Public Call No. 01/2023, published in DOERJ on April 26, 2023.

During the educational activities at the Vila do João nursery, up to 250 children from six months to three years and 11 months participate in psychopedagogical activities in a safe learning and socialization environment.

In addition, they receive four meals a day, a complete uniform and didactic material.

Betting on lotteries is very successful in Rio de Janeiro.

For Hazenclever Lopes Cançado, the initiative will be another opportunity to reaffirm the importance of responsible gaming and social commitment.

“Loterj’s premise is responsible gambling and social commitment, which is reaffirmed through the promotion of social projects such as this initiative by RioSolidario at the community nursery in Vila do João, which provides adequate nutrition and quality education.”

“We are aware of the reality of those many families who need day care centers to have a safe place to leave their children while they work or study.”

“I must emphasize that initiatives like this would not be possible without the full support of the governor, Cláudio Castro, and the secretary of the Civil House, Nicola Miccione, who are key public agents to transform the lives of all citizens of Rio de Janeiro”, added Lopes.

Another objective of the project is that 50% of the daycare staff are residents of the Vila do João community in the educational actions to be developed.

“The quest for quality early childhood education is a goal that transcends the limits of a single institution. It requires a collaborative effort by educators, families, communities and partners,” emphasized Analine Castro, Honorary President of RioSolidario.

And she specified: “This union is the foundation on which we build a solid and promising future for our children in an enriched, diverse and inclusive learning environment”.

Among them are Casa Abrigo Lar da Mulher, responsible for sheltering women victims of domestic violence in the State of Rio de Janeiro; and the Surf Praia Para Todos Project, which offers free surf lessons for young women at risk, people with disabilities and the elderly.

At the beginning of June, almost a month after the publication of the Public Notice of Accreditation for the exploration of sports betting, Loterj officialized the first authorized company. This is Rede Loto, which entered the market with its product called Loto Carioca.

Subsequently, the state lottery adjusted its notice to align with the provisional measure that regulates sports betting in Brazil and finalized the process with a total of eight interested companies.
