CONAFUT organizes panel dedicated to sports betting

The sixth edition of the National Football Conference (CONAFUT) starts this Thursday (22) at Espaço Fit, in São Paulo. The debate on sports betting organizations in the biggest competitions in Brazilian football is scheduled to take place at the event. Scheduled for this Friday (23rd), at 4:30 pm, the panel “Sports Betting: Regulations, Sponsorships and the Integrity of the Game” will be attended by specialists in the field.

Names like Fernando Prass, former player, Guilherme Buso, business manager at Genius Sport, Francisco Manssur, from the Ministry of Finance, and Danielle Maiolini, CSMV lawyer specializing in sports law, are confirmed. The discussion will be moderated by Fernando Mello, vice-president of the São Paulo Football Federation (FPF) and founder of Press FC.

For Rodrigo Molina, founder of CONAFUT, addressing this issue has become indispensable at the current time: “We are following the growth of this niche in competitions and how the development of sport in the country can be impacted. Therefore, the event also provides this environment to discuss the regulations, the effect on the sponsorship landscape and the best way to protect the honesty of each game”.

The legality of sports betting in Brazil began in 2018 and can move between BRL 120 billion and BRL 150 billion per year, according to government projections. According to estimates, more than one hundred bookmakers already operate in the country.

The conference will also provide awards, spaces for business and networking, an unprecedented and exclusive place for courses focused on football and lectures that present the subjects: diversity in football, management models, new sports media formats, growth of women’s football, new league, between others.
