Internacional enters the competitive scenario of eSports with PES 2021 team

Sport Club Internacional entered the electronic sports market. The first team from Colorado will be dedicated to the PES 2021 eFootball modality, being formed by the trio: Rodrigo “Rodrigão”, Edson “Juninho” and Henry Caohan.

In an official note, the club from Rio Grande do Sul assured that it will have teams for other categories soon, and aims to become a reference among other teams and organizations in the sector.

Cast announced by Internacional is already well known in Brazil

The players hired by Colorado are well known in the Brazilian competitive segment. Juninho was already national champion in 2018, while Henry was the winner of the Brazilian Cup of CBFDV (Brazilian Confederation of Digital and Virtual Football) in 2019.

And, Rodrigão, announced as the team captain, managed to be the undefeated champion of the Liga Colorada on Xbox One 2020, an online championship exclusively for club members.

The fact is that Brazilian teams are increasingly connected to eSports. Flamengo and Cruzeiro have franchised teams in CBLOL (Brazilian League of Legends Championship), while Corinthians is part of the Brazilian Free Fire League (LBFF).

In virtual football, this bond is even stronger. EGol is a competition that includes the main soccer teams in Brazil with video game simulators. Atlético-MG, Flamengo, Vasco, Internacional, Corinthians, Botafogo, São Paulo and Santos confirmed their participation in this year’s edition.

Increase in eSports bets

The entry of Internacional, following the movement of so many other clubs and traditional sports entities on the national scene, only demonstrates the strength achieved by electronic sports in recent years.

However, the growth registered by the segment since the first half of 2020 is even more significant, since it represented the only option of live entertainment and unprecedented for thousands of people around due to the stoppage of traditional sports in the middle of the pandemic.

From then on, this new public began to take an interest in the information and statistics of the eSports modalities in order to support their favorite competitors and also to place their bets in official competitions, generating an overwhelming growth of the market at a global level.
