The Blaze bookmaker achieved an important victory in Brazilian justice, obtained by Avelar Advogados and MYLAW Advogados.
The Court of Justice of the State of São Paulo issued a letter to Anatel (National Telecommunications Agency) so that operators are notified of the unblocking of the website https://blaze.com/pt.
The determination was published on Thursday (2), granting the resumption of the betting company’s operations in the national territory after eight months.
This is because on September 4th, Anatel accepted another request from the São Paulo Court, suspending the brand’s website throughout Brazil.
Blaze Domain Suspension in 2023
This blocking request was made on August 22nd by the 2nd Court of Tax Crimes, Criminal Organization and Asset and Securities Laundering of São Paulo.
In the decision, judge Guilherme Eduardo Martins Kellner mentioned Crash-type bets, in which the player “tests his luck” by trying to guess the ideal moment to go out and profit.
“In order to demonstrate the existence of fraud in the sale of signs for gambling, it was found that there were thousands of complaints made by people on the Reclame Aqui website, as well as police reports”, says the judge in the case.
Blaze quickly filed a lawsuit seeking the reestablishment of the site in Brazil. The request was filed on September 6, questioning the jurisdiction of the São Paulo court to analyze the case, requesting the transfer of the case to the Superior Court of Justice.
According to the defense, “[Blaze] has always been concerned with having a high level of professionalism and transparency with its customers, which has made it one of the main names in the online betting market”
Bookmaker published an extensive note clarifying its operations
It is worth remembering that the betting brand was involved in a controversy on social media in the same period. Because hundreds of consumers from across the country published complaints against the group.
Thus, the case gained wide repercussion and the company even published an extensive response detailing its operation in the national territory. The full bookmaker’s official note in English and Portuguese can be accessed here.
“Blaze.com is a completely legal and legitimate company, operating under the supervision of a master online gaming license issued by the Government of Curaçao. One of the main jurisdictions in the world for regulating online gaming”, says part of the statement.
Blaze continues as Santos’ main sponsor
Despite the controversies, the bookmaker continued with its brand in the most valued space on the Santos uniform. In March, Peixe announced an increase in the value of the current contract without changing the current term, which ends in April 2025.
“At this time of rebuilding the life of Santos Futebol Clube, the participation of partners is important. Therefore, joining forces is essential to reestablish the status of one of football’s greatest protagonists,” said the club’s president, Marcelo Teixeira.
Peixe even considered other companies for the most noble space on its shirt, but the negotiations did not progress. Blaze became the football club’s main partner in April 2023.
This is because the agreement was signed during Andrés Rueda’s management, with Neymar and his father playing key roles behind the scenes. Currently, the star is an ambassador for the company.
