Newcastle signs new contract with Fun88 aimed at the Asian market

Premier League football club Newcastle United have signed a new deal with gaming operator Fun88, covering Asian markets.

Through the new long-term contract, Fun88 will support Newcastle United’s growth in Asia. This will involve in-market initiatives, official club merchandise and VIP fan experiences.

“The club thanks Fun88 for their support over the last six seasons and looks forward to working together in the coming seasons,” Newcastle United said in a statement.

The Asian gaming and sportsbook operator has been the club’s main sponsor since the 2017-18 season, with the brand’s logo prominently featured on the front of the team’s shirt. Although the company receives most of its traffic from Asian markets, Fun88 is authorized to advertise in the UK under a license with TGP Holdings.

In April, Premier League clubs agreed to end the practice of sponsoring matches by betting on the most prized part of kits. The match sponsorship suspension is set to take effect from the end of the 2025-26 season.

While the deals may remain in place until that date, according to media reports, Newcastle have negotiated an early exit from their shirt deal with Fun88, with the club set to announce a new Middle East sponsor later this week.

The Premier League opted to carry out the voluntary shirt ban ahead of the Gambling Act Review white paper – within which the action was one of the main marketing restrictions to be implemented.
