The exciting victory of the Kansas City Chiefs in the Super Bowl, last Sunday, the 12th, earned a large amount of money for Canadian rapper Drake. The singer, who has already become known in the world of sports betting for making guesses involving a lot of money, agreed that the team commanded by quarterback Patrick Mahomes would take the NFL title this season.
For this, Drake ended up pocketing 1.47 million dollars (about R$ 7.4 million, at current quotations). However, Drake made more than one bet on the Super Bowl – according to his Instagram post – and not all of them were as lucky. In all, the singer invested US$965,000, around R$5.1 million, in different entries linked to the game between Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
In addition to the champion, Drake bet that the pair Patrick Mahomes and Juju Smith-Schuster would be responsible for the first touchdown of the Chiefs, that the tight end – an offensive position in American football – Travis Kelce would be elected the MVP of Super Bowl LVII and that the Kansas City franchise would win every quarter as well as every half of the game.
Therefore, the rapper missed most of the bets, however, managed to make a profit with the success of the team that would be champion. In all, Drake, who bet approximately BRL 5.1 million, won BRL 7.7 million, that is, a turnover of BRL 2.6 million.
Drake’s partnership with the Stake
In December 2021, Drake announced his partnership with the betting company Stake. Since then, he has bet more than $1 billion. In this way, he became a relevant presence in the betting market due to his millionaire bets in various sports.
At the end of last year, he cashed in on Argentina’s victory over France in the World Cup final. The singer bet US$ 1 million on the victory of the Argentine team in the final, which took place on December 18, 2022.
