Grupo Globo and MGM advance in the online bingo market with the acquisition of Bingão do Brasil

Boa Lion, a joint venture formed by Grupo Globo and the North American MGM Resorts, signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Bingão do Brasil, a company specializing in the development of online video bingo games.

The operation still depends on the approval of the Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade). The negotiation values, however, were not disclosed.

Among the company’s sellers is the holding company L.Eva Participações, which has presenter Luciano Huck among its partners.

Acquisition expands operations beyond sports betting

The purchase of Bingão do Brasil is part of BetMGM‘s strategy to expand its presence in segments beyond sports betting.

However, Bingão do Brasil operates on another front and focuses its activities on the development of online video bingo games. Furthermore, the company is still in the pre-operational phase.

With the acquisition, BetMGM is expected to strengthen its operations in areas such as online casino and digital bingo. In this way, the company expands its presence in segments that are gaining ground in the Brazilian online gaming market.

Why companies increase investments in the Brazilian betting market

The movement occurs during a period of growth in the betting industry in the country. In 2025, the Brazilian market generated around R$37 billion in gross revenue. With this, Brazil has consolidated itself among the largest global markets in the sector. Currently, the country ranks as the fifth largest sports betting market in the world, according to industry data.

Furthermore, BetMGM began operations in Brazil in 2025, after receiving a definitive license from the federal government. The brand was launched through a partnership between MGM Resorts and Grupo Globo. Thus, the two companies expanded their presence in the regulated betting market.

Company seeks to expand participation in the sector

Documents presented to Cade indicate that BetMGM has a share of less than 10% of the Brazilian online betting market. Given this scenario, the company intends to expand its operations in different categories of digital games.

The acquisition of Bingão do Brasil represents another step within the company’s growth strategy. At the same time, the operation takes place in a market that continues to consolidate after national regulation of the sector.
