Sportradar and NHL sign exclusive data agreement valid for a decade

Data provider Sportradar and the National Hockey League (NHL) have just announced a decade-long deal. The company now has exclusive rights to distribute data from the league to sports betting markets and communications groups in the US and around the world.

In addition, Sportradar may provide live streams to bookmakers using its AD:S platform to help the NHL identify overseas betting sponsorships.

Steve Byrd, Sportradar’s head of sports content and partnerships in the United States, said: “Partnering with the NHL is a great opportunity for us in many markets where we have relationships with major bookmakers such as Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Europe. other places. We are thrilled to have the video rights to stream games there and to make these sponsorship packages.”

Stephen McArdle, senior executive vice president of digital media and strategic planning for the NHL, also made an official statement. “We are admittedly just at the starting point of this journey of tracking and using data to tell stories.”

McArdle added: “Having another partner who is willing to learn from us the right ways to share that data, to present that data and, in the context of sports betting, the right ways to use that data, is very important to us.”

The values ​​referring to the partnership were not revealed by the parties involved, but it is estimated that the negotiation at the end of last year surpassed the 250 million dollar mark.
