The Minas Gerais Lottery (Lemg) plays a crucial role in society, especially in times of adversity. Recently, Lemg allocated approximately R$3 million to the State Civil Defense, aiming to assist communities affected by natural disasters.

Part of the Minas Gerais Lottery prize helps the homeless

A significant part of this amount was used to purchase a variety of essential items, including basic food baskets, dormitory kits, hygiene kits, mattresses, buckets, tarpaulins, tiles and cleaning kits. These resources have already been distributed in the following cities:

  • Montes Claros
  • Pavão
  • Novo Horizonte
  • Indaiabira
  • Santo Antônio do Jacinto
  • Açucena
  • Teófilo Otoni

So the aid coming from the lottery can provide some relief for families impacted by extreme weather events.

This solidarity action was possible thanks to the partnership between the Secretariat of Economic Development (Headquarters), through the Loteria Mineira, and the State Secretariat for Social Development (Sedese).

The collaboration between the Secretariat of Economic Development and the State Secretariat of Social Development has helped many families in Minas Gerais.

Loteria Mineira finances its social projects through the sale of games such as Raspadinha®. The new Scratch Card®, launched in October 2023, allocates 21% of its net revenue to the government, benefiting projects in the areas of Education, Health and Public Security.

It is estimated that in the first four games sold, the Consórcio Mineira da Sorte Loteria (CMSL) transferred more than R$16 million to Lemg.

Therefore, this type of assistance from the lottery to society is important for several reasons. Firstly, it helps to mitigate the impacts of emergency situations, such as natural disasters, by providing essential items to affected people.

Furthermore, these actions demonstrate the lottery’s social commitment, showing that it is not only focused on profit, but also on helping the community.

Lottery should allocate more than R$500 million to social programs

Loteria Mineira intends to allocate more than R$500 million to social programs over the 20 years of the concession. So, this should positively impact the lives of thousands of people in Minas Gerais.
