Vice-president Geraldo Alckmin (PSB) met with a representative of a betting company. According to CNN Brasil, the meeting was mediated by deputy Felipe Carreras (PSB-PE), leader of the party in the Chamber and active in the sector of regulation of games and sports betting. The meeting was with Mor Weizer, CEO of Playtech, last Tuesday, 4.
In the official agenda of the vice president, there is only the record of the meeting with Carreras. In contact with the CNN report, the federal deputy pointed out that Playtech showed support for the regulation of betting in Brazil and pointed out that this change in Brazilian legislation could result in billionaire investments for the country.
“They believe that Brazil has everything to be the second largest market in the world. The investments in each complex of the integrated casino resorts, this type of investment is more than US$ 1 billion. Japan will receive the first investment and it will be in the order of US$ 4 billion”, said Carreras in contact with CNN.
The deputy also declared that Alckmin listened to the arguments and waved positively towards the regulation. “The president said that he is in favor of it and that he will manage within the government to move forward with this,” he said.
The bill that regulates gambling in Brazil was approved in the Chamber of Deputies, but has been waiting for consideration in the Federal Senate since then. There is still no forecast for the proposal to be put to the vote, however, there is already expectation in the sector that there will be a breakthrough in the second half of this year.
