On the last 25th of July, the sports betting PM was signed, which defined the regulations for the operation of the sector and the collection rates for sectors and institutions in Brazil.
Despite already being in force, some amendments will still be discussed and applied in the regulation.
As a result, several politicians are already filing amendments, such as Kim Kataguiri (União-SP), who requested the inclusion of eSports players and teams in the collection intended for athletes.

Federal deputy Kim Kataguiri (União-SP) filed an amendment to the provisional measure that regulates sports betting in Brazil to include players and electronic sports entities in the share of revenue destined for athletes.
The original excerpt sent by the government provides that, of the product collected from the betting lottery, 1.63% would be allocated to entities of the National Sports System and Brazilian athletes or those linked to sports organizations in the country.
On the other hand, denominations, sports nicknames, images, brands, emblems, anthems, symbols and the like could be used to publicize the lottery.
Kataguiri’s amendment wants to include virtual sports players and entities in the device.
In the justification, he argues that virtual games “represent an opportunity for economic development, technological innovation and revenue generation for the State.”
“By directing a small percentage of the resources raised by betting to this sector, we will be encouraging its expansion, enabling the creation of new jobs and stimulating innovation in this strategic segment of the digital economy”, says the parliamentarian.
Another amendment was presented by federal deputy Rosângela Moro (União-SP), proposing that 50% of the revenues destined to the Ministry of Sport be sent directly to the Brazilian Paralympic Committee (CPB) for the benefit of athletes with disabilities.
The PM plans to allocate 3% of revenues to the Ministry of Sport.
Rosângela also suggests that a percentage be invested in encouraging women’s sports as a means of social inclusion.
