The Betting & Gaming Council (BGC) has announced that Safer Gambling Week 2024 in the UK has achieved over 60 million impressions across social media platforms.

The event is organized by BGC, BACTA (Betting and Gaming Council’s Anti-Corruption Taskforce) and the Bingo Association.

This is the 8th year that the Safer Gambling Week campaign has taken place, raising awareness of responsible gambling tools and resources available to players in physical and online locations, starting conversations about safe gambling among employees, customers and their friends and family.

Safe Gaming Week supports responsible gaming

This year’s campaign, which ran between November 18th and 24th, saw a 21% increase in impressions compared to the previous year, with engagement to raise awareness about safer gaming taking place across X, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.

Several UK MPs from different parties have also supported Safer Gambling Week, including the Minister for Gambling, Baroness Fiona Twycross, and DCMS Shadow Secretary, Stuart Andrew MP.

The campaign was also supported by the UK Gambling Commission and its CEO Andrew Rhodes, as well as several football clubs including Premier League side Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton.

The BGC added that the Safer Gambling Week website received over half a million visits during the campaign, helping to provide advice on safer gambling tools such as deposit limits and timeouts, and directing those who need help to the right resources.

“These extraordinary, record-breaking results prove once again that our industry is serious about promoting safer gaming tools. This way, we provide customers with signage to the help and support available to those who need it,” commented Grainne Hurst, CEO of BGC.

“As I said at the beginning of the week, our commitment to safer bets is not just for one week of the year. In other words, our mission is for every week of the year”, concluded Hurst.

Therefore, several other events took place during Safe Gambling Week to support the campaign. Thus, the most sought after were:
