Aston Villa and sports betting company Betano have announced a sponsorship agreement with an annual investment of around £40 million (equivalent to R$251 million).
This hit became the biggest in the club’s history involving the Aston Villa shirt.
According to information from The Telegraph, this agreement, lasting two years, will come into force next season. Thus, coinciding with the debut of Adidas as the club’s official supplier of sporting goods.
The magnitude of this contract is exemplified by the fact that it is more than double the previous sponsorship with BK8, a Chinese sports betting brand.
It is worth noting that the contract with BK8, which was stipulated until 2026, will be terminated before the period of prohibition of sports betting companies on Premier League uniforms.
Furthermore, Betano has secured its position as the official betting brand for Euro 2024 and this year’s Copa América.
In Brazil, Betano expanded its partnership with Atlético-MG
Atlético-MG and Betano announced the renewal of the master sponsorship contract in February this year. The partnership, which began in January 2021, will continue to appear on the most noble space on the official uniform of the Minas Gerais team’s players.
The expanded agreement also covers the master sponsorship of Atlético’s women’s football team and properties at Arena MRV, such as a customized branded box and possibilities for activations at the stadium.
The president of Clube Atlético Mineiro, Sérgio Coelho, said: “Among the bets, Betano is one of the biggest and most prestigious in the world. And, he is expanding the contract with Galo because he has reaped results. This is only possible when you have a huge and rapidly growing brand, like Galo.”
