As the Super Bowl approaches, betting projections are reaching new heights. In other words, bettors in the US must move around $1.25 billion in regulated bets during the game.

According to Eilers & Krejcik Gaming (EKG), the Super Bowl is the most bet on sporting event in the US, representing approximately 1% of total bets in the country.

The research company forecasts a volume of US$1.25 billion, highlighting that it is not projecting revenue due to uncertainties in this type of forecast.

Furthermore, EKG notes that the main goal of sports betting operators during the Super Bowl is not just to make a profit, but to attract new customers and promote other products.

Thus, maintaining a particular focus on live betting, which should represent between 10% and 15% of total bets this year.

States that should bet more on the Super Bowl

With regard to the geographic distribution of bets, Nevada and New York lead the ranking among North American states.

Nevada, with its reputation as a world-renowned casino destination, is expected to lead with 12.8% of total betting. Next, New York with 12.4%.

The latter is not surprising given its status as the largest multi-operator sports betting market in the country.

At a local level, there is a growing interest in live betting, which could represent up to 25% of total Super Bowl bets.

A trend that operators like FanDuel and DraftKings are watching closely, with a significant impact on their revenue during major sporting events.
