The sports betting scenario in Brazil is constantly evolving, not only due to local regulations, but also due to global trends.

A recent study produced by SimilarWeb revealed the surprising performance of this segment between September and November 2023.

Explosion of access and sports betting

During this period, the sector grew exponentially in terms of access. The increase in 2023 will be 95% greater than in 2022 and the Brazilian market projection continues to rise at the beginning of 2024.

An impressive statistic worth highlighting is that in November 2023, 66% of all betting website visits were directed to just 1% of websites in the industry.

In other words, there is a concentration of traffic on a very small number of platforms.

This is a normal reaction, as certain operators or websites began advertising them much earlier than others.

Sporting events such as the Pan American Games in Santiago and the Libertadores semi-finals served to boost traffic at online betting houses.

Therefore, the nature of the event and the massive coverage, whether on television or on the internet, were important in stimulating the interest of bettors.

40% of adults have already participated in some type of bet

Thus, betting websites accumulated a total of 2.1 billion visits between September and November 2023, with an average of 6 minutes per access. In November alone, there were 61.4 million unique visitors.

Thus, according to research, around 40.9% of the adult population in Brazil was involved with at least one betting website during the last quarter of the year.

In other words, this high percentage shows not only the growing interest, but also the significant increase of sports betting in Brazilian society.

It is worth noting that the regulation of the Brazilian sports betting sector was sanctioned by the president of the republic on December 30, 2023.
