This figure represented a 44% increase compared to the previous year, marking a robust performance for the betting industry in the state.

It is important to highlight that this amount became the second largest movement recorded so far, just behind the record set in January of this year, when it reached the mark of US$282.3 million.

Louisiana Betting Revenue Reaches Record $43.1 Million

The numbers reveal the participation of 18 physical betting operators and nine mobile operators in the state.

This collaboration resulted in record gross revenue of $43.1 million, indicating Louisiana residents’ growing interest and engagement in sports betting.

Looking at the specific contribution, physical traders received a total of US$31.2 million in bets and generated revenue of US$5.7 million.

On the other hand, online sports betting stood out, with a total turnover of US$248.8 million in bets and significant revenue of US$37.4 million.

Basketball and baseball lead sports betting preferences in Louisiana

Among sports, basketball stood out as the favorite among bettors, followed closely by baseball.

This preference reflects the landscape of sports preferences in the region, providing valuable insight into betting trends in Louisiana.

Furthermore, it is worth noting that the state recorded a historic milestone in tax collection in September, with a total of $5.3 million, a number that surpassed the $5 million mark in a single month for the first time.

Considering the first nine months of the year, tax collection reached the remarkable sum of $26.7 million, representing a substantial increase of almost $6.7 million compared to the same period of the previous year.

This robust data indicates the continued growth and vitality of the sports betting industry in Louisiana.

Therefore, total turnover in the first nine months of the year reached an impressive $1.86 billion, representing a notable increase of 21.9%.
