DraftKings signs agreement aimed at legalizing the gambling market in Connecticut

The operator DraftKings has signed a new agreement with Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation in Connecticut. Mashantucket Pequot is a Native American nation located in one of the oldest indigenous reserves in the country and considered one of the pioneers in involvement with the gaming industry and casino operation.

Under the contract, DraftKings will become a fantasy sports partner at Foxwoods Resort Casino, owned by the group. The deal will cause the company to launch its online gambling service in Connecticut, once the local market is legalized.

Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation currently holds the exclusive right to operate games in Connecticut in exchange for 25% of its slot revenue. According to a statement on the DraftKings website, the group has generated $ 8 billion in revenue for the state since the formation of this trade agreement.

Online gambling and sports betting are expected to earn $ 175 million in new revenue for Connecticut over the next five years.

“This is a historic agreement in collaboration with Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation, as well as an important next step in bringing America’s most highly rated sports betting app to sports fans in Connecticut,” commented Matthew Kalish, co-founder and president of DraftKings in the United States.

He added: “Expanding the regulated betting market in the United States is among our strategic priorities. DraftKings is working with live mobile sports betting in 10 states, more than any other operator in the country. And, this partnership will allow us to extend our reach ”.
