Women’s soccer is growing and becoming the second most popular sport in Brazil

Women are on the rise in the world of betting, and women’s football is emerging as a growing highlight. According to the economic consultancy Deloitte, women’s sports will reach R$ 13.3 billion in 2025, with basketball and football as the main drivers.

A study by Grupo Globo, in partnership with Offerwise, a global provider specializing in online market research, shows that women’s soccer is already the second most popular sport in Brazil, with 31%. Only men’s soccer, still dominant, is ahead, with 76%.

Anderson Nunes, Head of Business at Casa de Apostas, stated: “The fact that women’s football has reached second place among the most bet-on sports in Brazil clearly shows a new behavior among the public. Brazilian bettors are connecting with sports that reflect new habits of sports consumption.”

He added: “This scenario opens up space for more diversified strategies and reinforces the importance of viewing women’s football as a consolidated and rapidly growing market.”

The betting sector was also among the main supporters of the 2025 Brazilian Women’s Championship, won by Corinthians, currently sponsored by Esportes da Sorte. It’s worth remembering that Corinthians also won the Libertadores Cup this year.

Alex Rose, CEO of InPlaySoft: “The growth of women’s sports in recent years has enabled the creation of new markets on sports betting platforms, which have begun to pay closer attention to new sports and attract new customers to the market.”

Brazilian Women’s Cup Final

Another competition that deserves mention is the Women’s Brazilian Cup, which returned this season. The grand final takes place in Araraquara, where Ferroviária and Palmeiras will decide the title at Arena Fonte Luminosa, this Thursday (20), at 3:30 pm.

Both teams arrive strengthened by investments and boast sponsorships from betting companies. Palmeiras is supported by Sportingbet, while Ferroviária is sponsored by Galera.bet.

Palmeiras reached the final after eliminating São Paulo, while Ferroviária advanced by defeating Bahia. The historical record between the clubs shows balance: in 23 matches, Palmeiras won nine, Ferroviária achieved eight victories, and six matches ended in a draw.

The competition offers high prize money, so the finalists are guaranteed R$ 100,000. The champion takes home R$ 1 million, while the runner-up receives R$ 500,000. Finally, Ferroviária plays at home because they won the CBF draw.

Sponsored by betting companies, Grêmio and Juventude will decide the Women’s Gaucho Championship.

Partnering with Stake, Juventude returned to the final of the Gauchão Feminino (Rio Grande do Sul Women’s Championship) after 17 years and is competing for the title against Grêmio, which displays the Alfa brand.

The team secured their spot after beating Internacional 2-0 in the first leg, losing 2-0 in the second leg, and advancing thanks to Thaís Amorim’s saves in the penalty shootout.

Juventude revived its women’s department in 2021 and grew with its own structure in Caxias do Sul, including a field, locker rooms, laundry facilities, technical rooms, a gymnasium, and a fitness center.

Renata Armiliato, the club’s women’s football coordinator, stated: “I believe that what we achieved this year is a direct result of the progress the club has made in women’s football. We went from an amateur team to a fully professional group.”

In the first leg of the final, Grêmio won the first leg 3-0 in Caxias do Sul. The return leg takes place this Sunday (23).
