The Aparecida de Goiânia City Council approved bill No. 133/2023, an initiative by councilor Erivelton, which proposes the creation of the Municipal Lottery.

This project represents a strategy in the search for new sources of revenue and in boosting local economic and social development.

Complying with national guidelines, the proposal aims to establish a public lottery service in the city, exploring opportunities for partnerships and legal arrangements that maximize operational efficiency and transparency.

As stipulated in Art. 1, the operation of the municipal lottery will be in accordance with the terms of art. 175 of the Constitution of the Republic.

Councilor Erivelton highlighted the benefits of this measure, especially with regard to the economy and social well-being.

This is because the implementation of the lottery aims to reduce the pressure to increase taxes and fees, providing fiscal relief for residents.

Gambling types considered for the municipal lottery

Therefore, it is expected that this measure will also be a catalyst for the region’s economic growth, promoting job creation and stimulating various sectors of the local economy.

According to the text, the types of lotteries that will be promoted include passive lottery, numerical prediction lottery, among others, all strictly aligned with federal regulations.

Furthermore, the municipal lottery project defines that prizes not redeemed within 90 days will be reverted to public use, ensuring efficient management of resources.

Also according to the proposal, the revenue generated by the lottery will be used to pay for vital areas such as health, education, sport and public safety.

Finally, the agenda reinforces the relevance of municipal control over lottery operations. Thus ensuring effective regulation and the conduct of games in an ethical and safe manner.

Now, the bill will be passed on to the Executive to be sanctioned or vetoed.
