Esports Entertainment has partnered with the National Football Team (NFL) team, Los Angeles Chargers. The agreement will see the company become the official sports tournament platform provider for the Chargers.

The multi-year agreement will see Esports Entertainment operate sports tournaments under the same brand name for the team; these will be held annually and will use the company’s ‘Esports Gaming League’ (EGL) platform. In addition, Chargers will also have an equity stake in Esports Entertainment.

Esports Entertainment says that, as a Chargers partner, “it will leverage the player’s image within the local Chargers market.” It will also look to work with the sports brand to promote the eSports tournaments through “extensive ongoing digital marketing efforts” that will be visible across social, email, mobile and online channels.

“Working with Chargers and other top teams in the NFL, NHL, NBA, and more, provides strong validation of the quality of our robust platform and its ability to meet the demanding needs of large-scale, high-level deployments,” said Magnus Leppäniemi, President of eSports at Esports Entertainment.

Grant Johnson, CEO of Esports Entertainment, said: “We are delighted to expand our reach in the NFL through our partnership with the Chargers. Our robust tournament platform will help Chargers strengthen connections with their fans while providing new paths for engagement”.

Jim Rushton, director of revenue for Los Angeles Chargers, added, “The popularity of eSports among our fans provides a great opportunity for our team to build deeper connections and meaningful engagements.”

“We think Chargers Gaming Tournaments will be very popular with our fans and a fun way to compete in a fun and social environment with gamers across our entire fan base,” concludes Rushton.
