The round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores and Copa Sudamericana have already begun. However, regardless of the results on the field, bookmakers have guaranteed a prominent position. Among the 32 clubs competing in both tournaments, 23 have sponsorship contracts with the sector.
In Brazil, all six clubs participating in the Libertadores and the two competing in the Copa Sudamericana display betting logos on the main part of their shirts. The same situation is repeated among three teams from Peru, Colombia, and Ecuador, as well as two teams from Chile.
Alex Rose, CEO of InPlaySoft, commented: “In a growing regulated market like Brazil, South American tournaments can do wonders for brand growth among operators.”
Internacional, for example, signed the biggest sponsorship deal in its history with Alfa.
Alexandre Godoy, the club’s head of sponsorships and advertising, said: “This shows that each of Inter’s assets has become a strategic showcase for brands.”
Growth also advances in Argentina
In Argentina, only three of the nine clubs have betting contracts. Still, the number is impressive, considering these partnerships only recently began in the country.
Nickolas Ribeiro, partner and founder of Ana Gaming, highlighted: “It’s a mature and regulated market in several countries, demonstrating the reality of investment in the major leagues in the Americas.”
River Plate was the latest to sign a contract. Last month, the club announced Betano as its master sponsor until mid-2027. Although the amount has not been disclosed, estimates indicate around US$6 million per year, equivalent to R$35 million.

Boca Juniors receives similar amounts from Betsson, around R$40 million annually. Racing, recent champions of the Copa Sudamericana and Recopa, are also sponsored by the company and receive around R$12 million per season.
Difference in values between Brazil and Argentina
The contrast with the Brazilian market is stark: at least 14 Serie A clubs receive more than Boca Juniors and River Plate from master sponsorships. Corinthians, Flamengo, and Palmeiras, for example, earn more than R$100 million annually from betting contracts.
Finally, in Brazil, estimates indicate that agreements involving the sector exceed R$1 billion per year.
