Canadian rapper Drake added another victory to his list of successes, but this time, it wasn’t in the music industry. He made a huge sum of US$1.1 million (approximately R$5.6 million) by betting on Brazilian fighter Alex Poatan Pereira to win at UFC 300.
The fight, which took place last Saturday (13), ended with the American Jamahal Hill knocked out by the Brazilian and Drake with a significant increase in his fortune.
Drake is known for his sports betting hobby
The singer revealed on his social networks that he bet US$675,000 (around R$3.4 million) on Poatan’s defense of the light heavyweight belt. But the return on investment came quickly, as Poatan needed just three minutes and 14 seconds to knock out Hill.
Known for his hit songs, Drake is also a sports betting enthusiast. Last year, he earned R$13.8 million when Israel Adesanya knocked out Poatan.
But the rapper’s biggest bet on the UFC was in July 2022, when he earned around R$18 million after Paddy Pimblett and Molly McCann won their fights at UFC London.
In the fight that earned Drake his most recent profit, Alex Poatan Pereira showed why he was the favorite to defend his light heavyweight belt. Thus, with a knockout worthy of applause, he detonated Jamahal Hill.
The Brazilian only needed half of the first round to shut down his opponent, with a left hook followed by other blows and a ground and pound finisher.

Therefore, with this victory, Poatan reached three consecutive victories, all against former champions, and expanded his record to seven victories and just one defeat.
