Who will be the new PSG coach? Rivaldo gives his opinion and Betfair calculates odds

PSG, from France, is close to making a relevant decision for the new season. After a year with the frustration of not reaching the decision of the Champions League, the Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino is not fully guaranteed in the role and the board has a list of names to change in the technical command of the starred squad formed by Mbappe, Messi and Neymar. Betfair has calculated the odds to find out who will be the new manager.

According to the Spanish media, the main names quoted are José Mourinho (Roma), Marcelo Gallardo (River Plate), Christophe Galtier (Nice), Rúben Amorim (Sporting) or Zinedine Zidane (without a club). But, Betfair’s analysis points out that the greatest chances of hiring are the French coach Christophe Galtier, from Nice, who in the 2020/21 season won the French title with the modest Lille team with a 35% (1.73) chance of happening.

Champion of the Conference League with Roma, José Mourinho won the European trip (Champions League in 2003/04 and 2009/2010, Europa League 2003/04 and 2016/17 and Conference League 2021/22) and appears as the second favorite to be the PSG coach with 14% (4.5).

Frenchman Zinedine Zidane, world champion with France in 1998, three times best player in the world and three-time champion of Champions 15/16, 16/17 and 17/18 as coach of Real Madrid, appears in third place with 11% (5.5) .

Marcelo Gallardo, River Plate’s Argentine coach, emerges as a possibility outside Europe to command the club with 6% (11.0). The Italian-Brazilian Thiago Motta, former Parisian athlete between 2012 and 2018 and former coach of the PSG Under-19 team between 2018 and 2020, occupies fifth position with 4% (17.0).

While Portuguese Ruben Amorim, coach of the Braga team, is only in sixth place in the Betfair ranking with 3% (21.0) alongside experienced coaches Roberto Mancini and Sérgio Conceição.

PSG will have to break a sweat if they want Mourinho as coach, says Rivaldo

Betfair Ambassador Rivaldo believes that José Mourinho, champion with Roma, has the best chance of taking over PSG: “Among the names that have been launched by the press, I see José Mourinho very well positioned to take over the position because he is someone with a lot of experience managing squads full of stars, in addition to having already won the Champions League and knowing how to manage moments of great pressure. But he is happy at Roma, so it will certainly be necessary for PSG to present him with a very interesting project on which he can impose his ideas in order to be able to transfer to France.”

About the other names speculated, Rivaldo points out Zidane as a good option to command the team full of stars: “Looking at the other names mentioned, I would say that Zidane would also be a good option to command such an illustrious squad, unlike other less experienced coaches like Marcelo Gallardo or Rúben Amorim”, concluded the ace.

Transfer window for Raphinha and Richarlyson

Other transfer market speculation involves players from the Brazilian national team switching clubs in the European window. Young players Raphinha and Richarlyson were speculated by some clubs on account of their good performance this season at Leeds and Everton, respectively.

See below the probability list of Raphinha’s likely destinations for a new contract to be signed before September 3:

  • Barcelona- 52,4%
  • Newcastle – 32,3%
  • Manchester United – 23,1%
  • Bayern de Munique – 7,7%
  • Liverpool – 5,3%
  • Chelsea – 5,3%

Below is the probability list of Richarlyson’s likely destinations for a new contract to be signed before September 3, 2022:

  • Aston Villa- 21%
  • Manchester United – 19%
  • Real Madrid – 14%
  • Arsenal – 12%
  • PSG – 12%
  • Newcastle – 11%
  • Tottenham – 8%
  • Liverpool – 2%

Rivaldo bets that the presence of Brazilian Edu Gaspar, Arsenal’s director of football, could have a positive influence on Richarlyson changing teams. “Arsenal has Edu as a director and he was already technical coordinator for Tite at a time when Richarlyson was playing in the Brazilian national team, so they know each other well and that could facilitate a transfer to the Gunners this window.”

“Everton’s departure is increasingly likely with Arsenal assuming themselves as one of the top clubs trying to sign him. And leaving for a club that always fights for the top spots in the English League will be important for Richarlyson, who had a difficult season with Everton, but ended up being decisive in the last rounds”, said Rivaldo.

“I think he has already shown enough football to move to a bigger club where he can fight for conquests, and that will also be crucial for his call-ups to the Brazilian national team. Playing for a team that is prominent in English football will put him closer to being called up to the World Cup and even, who knows, to start in Qatar”, concluded the Betfair ambassador.
